Int'l visitor to Sanctuary Cove, China boat show, Qld boaties lifeline

There's plenty to look forward to in the coming months as around the world, the marine industry looks for signs of consumer confidence and a return to spending.

In the US, UK, Europe and Middle East boat shows have brightened up the cooler months and there are more to come: Miami, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the inaugural Liverpool Boat Show, China (Shanghai) Boat Show and then the major Australian shows come in to the spotlight.

The organisers of China's premier boat show are anticipating record attendance levels and state that the event is a 'must-do' for China's growing millionaires, eager to get in to the boating lifestyle. The figures they quote are astounding: 'China ranks fourth in the world in the number of millionaires, China is currently the second global biggest luxury consuming country, and it is expected to be Number 1 in the world by 2015'. All indicators are China's appetite for boating, at all levels, will grow as this segment flourishes.

In our exclusive story this week, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (Queensland's Gold Coast May 19-22 2011), has announced today Carla Demaria, President of the highly awarded Monte Carlo Yachts, will be the special guest of this year's event. Her global insight from 25 years in the industry involved in some of Italy's most prestigious companies will be invaluable for those who deal with Europe or wish to know more about trends and new practices.

Also this week, your chance to broadcast your opinions about Australian Marine Parks. Respected TV program, 60 Minutes is filming a forum to be held at Tweed Heads Qld, 5 February. If you can make it there, the Fishing & Lifestyle Party's Keith Douglas is urging anglers and industry to attend.

World-renowned sailor and environmentalist, Ian Kiernan has plenty to say about the benefits of Marine Parks to those involved in recreational and commercial fishing.

There is an array of new products, reviews and international launches scheduled throughout 2011.

Please keep sending your views and information, and visit regularly for the latest, global industry news and features.
