Mark your calendar! Friday, October 15th will be the first day of the Canada's Cup at the Chicago Match Race Center. Watch the races, tracked by Kattack, as well as video highlights and live commentary at http://www.chicagomatchrace.com/. The excellent crews on Grant Hood's Vincere team from Canada's Port Credit Yacht Club and on Don Wilson's Convexity representing the Chicago Match Race Center should make this a very exciting event to watch.
Only five days to go in La Rochelle as the Velux 5 Oceans skippers are making final preparations and spending time with family and friends before heading off on their 30,000 miles solo adventure next Sunday. The event organizer media team assembled in La Rochelle has performed an outstanding job sharing images from the race village; I anticipate that live coverage from the yachts at sea will be just as amazing.
While the Velux 5 Oceans skippers will begin their first leg south in the treacherous Bay of Biscay on the France West cost, a short 4-hour drive north of La Rochelle will take you to Saint-Malo on the English Channel where the Route du Rhum diversified fleet is gathering for their start on October 31st. The race will take them south across the Atlantic Ocean to the French Antilles island of Guadeloupe. Stay tuned for more on this popular event!
Finally, the US Sailboat Show in Annapolis was a resounding success again this year; the US Powerboat Show is taking over the venue this week-end.
