Americas Cup revolution, healthy signs from Europe, promo opp for RIBS

Extra heavy traffic for the TetraMedia marine news group this week with major developments announced for the 34th America's Cup.

Overnight Russell Coutts, CEO of BMW ORACLE Racing, unveiled a new vision for the future of the event, announcing that the next craft for the 2013 event would be a high performance, 72 foot wing sail catamaran and that the event would start in 2011 with 45 foot one design versions, being sailed at a range of events around the world.

Sail-World's Richard Gladwell, who is one of the acknowledged world experts on the AC, produced another of his 'tours de force' and the first Sail-World newsletter went to 86,000 readers world-wide by 4am Australian time.

We will be publishing transcriptions of a post press conference with Russell Coutts and others over the coming days.

The inbox has been full this week with feedback and reports from the European shows, including Southhampton and Cannes, where visitors numbers were up and the mood has been positive, but not yet celebratory.

No cry of victory, but 'real signs of hope,' confirmed Jean-Fran├žois Fountaine, president of the French Nautical Industries Federation (F.I.N.) post-Cannes. 'The foundations are healthy for beginning to restart the market, stocks are low, the new orders are now going to be translated into renewed activity.'

In these competitive times, added exposure to consumers and trade is always useful. The Heaven Can Wait regatta, 2 & 3 October on Port Stephens is offering RIB dealers or manufacturers the chance to get onboard as support craft for this high profile and worthwhile charity event. Read all about the benefits then get in touch!

Have a great week, enjoy this week's batch and pop in for more daily.
