Abu Dhabi relocates, Riviera delivers 70s, Liverpool show launched

We have a marvellous mixed bag of news, reviews and great holiday reading for you this week (and every week throughout summer).

The marine industry, specifically the fishing sector, made international news this week for all the right reasons, as German-born, Port Lincoln (South Australia) identity, Hagen Stehr took out second place in Time magazine's 50 Best Inventions of the Year for 2009.

His breakthrough in farming tuna in captivity will add impetus to the industry and shine the spotlight on Aussie ingenuity.

Riviera has delivered another of its impressive 70s to two very lucky and loyal customers, representing in themselves sales of $12m. There are now five Riviera 70 Flybridges gracing the world's waterways. (Build No 1 went to Noumea).

In New Zealand, it has been announced that the Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta will coincide with the Auckland Boat Show, 10-14 March 2010, bringing another facet of boats and boating to this major international event and a lot of extra media attention.

We have stories and innovations from all over the world: electric boats in the US, safety stats and tips for summer boating, boat show news from London and Abu Dhabi – which will be held at the phenomenal Yas Marina due to record exhibitor numbers – and an overview of 2009 and aims for the year ahead for the Marina Industry Association of Australia.

Stay in touch.
