Sail-World USA: 19 November 2009

Welcome to Sail-World.Com's US newsletter for 19 November 2009

No developments in America's Cup Legal, on the decisions that are due from the Appellate Division and the Supreme Court itself. However in an interview with Alinghi's Grant Simmer reveals they are winding down their sailing program in Ras al-Khaimah, putting Alinghi 5 in the shed for modifications, and then shipping off to Valencia - the 'default venue'.

We do have some more great photos of BMW Oracle Racing's America's Cup Challenger, BOR90, this set showing her sailing off San Diego with the wingsail, jib and a screecher loaded and ready to go. Certainly she is an impressive piece of kit.

Alinghi 5 sailing off Ras al-Khaimah  Alinghi Team

No news on the Louis Vuitton Trophy series with yesterday being a lay day ahead of the Semi-Finals.

We have Andrew Campbell's response to comments he made in his last commentary regarding starting lines and Race Officers.

Don't miss Lynn Fitzpatrick's profile on Paul Cayard as he reflects on being 50 years old at the Louis Vuitton Trophy series at Nice, Cote D'Azur.

Of the same generation, Alinghi skipper Brad Butterworth gives his views on life in the America's Cup in an audio clip with the world's foremost sailing commentator, Peter Montgomery. It is very revealing and great listening.

There's a lot of video in this issue, as more and more of the teams and sailors are using this medium. We are also using Twitter a lot on Sail-World - not to tell you what the editors have for breakfast, but to follow the sailing sites that are linked to Twitter - allowing you to access all the latest news directly from your mobile. In our case we have an app loaded onto an iPhone - which is just superb. News at a glance.

Many thanks for your help and input, we're here to help sailing, and help those who wish to help themselves.

Good sailing!
