Sweltering temps bring out buyers, Discover Boating NZ, SIBEX recap
Another week of record temps around Australia (sorry SA for omission last week). As I write this, it's hitting 39C and ain't it unbearable. Better to be out on the seaway where it's 10 degrees cooler.
Summer DownUnder, and there's no better time to get in to boating, and in NZ, the launch of Discover Boating has raised the profile of recreational boating among a people already switched on to its joys.
'Kiwis are a boating people,' says Bob Tait, Chairman of the program and long-time boating proponent. 'It's not a hard sell.' Interestingly, the model the Kiwis have chosen is vastly different from that of the US and Australia – the NZ Marine Industry Association has footed the bill in anticipation of its members joining the program as they witness its success.
Read all about it, and many more compelling business stories from the world marine scene, including preliminary reports from METS and SIBEX, success and observations from Fort Lauderdale, new prestige brokerage display for Sanctuary Cove 2010 and a changing of the guard in the Ports & Waterways portfolio in the NSW government. Bye Joe!
Keep sending us your news, no matter where you are in the world.
