Welcome Sail-World.Com's USA newsletter for 2 October 2009
Today was probably one of the most bizarre in the history of sailing.
In Ras al Khaimah, in United Arab Emirates, Alinghi 5 arrived and was unloaded from a freighter in the next phase opf her campaign to defend the America's Cup.
A few hours later in New York, the Challenger, lawyers for Golden Gate Yacht Club trod a well worn path to the Supreme Court, to file papers opposing the choice of the venue by the Swiss Club.
In this issue we have photos of the arrival and a brief story on the latest Court Motion.
There are now two separate issues in front the of the Court, with really no sign of an end to the matter.
Start of first race at the 2009 Sonar Worlds Andrea Watson
Also in this issue we have the latest action from the RC44'; US Sailing is calling for nominations for the Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year, along with Coach of the Year.
PredictWind are sponsoring the Sonar Nationals, in this issue we have a report on the first day of racing. Predictwind.com have also provided a pre race forecast, which is a great way of understanding how this fine product works from experts who have over 20 years forecasting experience at the highest level of racing.
