Industry voice launch, Korea on target, Auctions signal confidence

Welcome to another week of global boating (and fishing) industry news. Last week, a new and very vocal industry group was launched in Canberra, meeting with government reps to start the ball rolling on matters of concern to the broader boating and fishing industries.

Known as the Fishing & boating Council of Australia, it is an industry first - formed with the sole purpose of lobbying government on issues that impact on all stakeholders.

First on the agenda, expressing concern and returning some balance to the debate over the declaration of the Coral Sea as a Conservation Zone.

Watch this space for more on the charter and initiatives of this timely industry organisation.

You have only a few days left to enter the Sail-World competition to win your choice of either a Laser 4.7, a Laser Radial or a Laser Standard sailing boat, built by Performance Sailcraft Australasia in its Australian factory and worth AUD$9,200. It's as simple as entering online, answering 20 quick questions and in 25 words or less convince our judges you are the worthy winner.

The Complete Laser includes: Boat, Spars, Foils, Sail, Sail numbers, Battens, Turbo Kit, Rope Kit, Tiller & extension and Beach dolly. Value Australian Retail $9,200 NZ Retail $11,495.

If the winner is from NZ, then the boat can be picked up from Auckland. An Australian or other destination winner can pick up from Performance Sailcraft's Ourimbah NSW factory or arrange freight at their own cost.

Good luck!

Check out the stories this week on Jessica Watson and Ella's Pink Lady, the innovative supergreen superyacht from a young UK designer that harnesses Aussie-grown technology from Solar Sailor, and a sneak peek at Sir Richard Branson's recently overhauled Lady B, now known as Necker Belle after 2 years of refit and refurb at the Carrington facilities of Azzura Marine.

As the summer season starts in ernest, please keep in touch with your news, events, observations and any other comments. Most importantly, get out on the water and enjoy it!
