Boat Shows galore, Sturrocks celebrate 30, Dunbier the big 40!

What a week of news, celebrations, anniversaries and launches!

Legendary chandlery and all round nice guys, Sturrocks, celebrate 30 years supplying innovative and top notch gear to sailors of all species. Times have certainly changed since they opened their doors at Birkenhead Point in 1979, but the personalised service and warmth of Doug and John and their team at Rushcutters Bay has endured over three decades precisely because they love what they do.

If you bump into them on the Harbour or on the job at d'Albora Marinas, Rushcutters Bay, wish them happy 30th!

Then, Dunbier Marine Products has also celebrated a milestone: the big 40! Read a little about the history of this iconic Australian marine brand and its evolution over the years.

Also this week, the analysis of the strengths and flaws of the Gold Coast's newest boat show, held at Parklands at Southport over the weekend. Organisers received positive feedback from visitors and exhibitors and anticipate a bigger and better show for 2010.

There's an update on the program and format of the Asia Superyacht Conference, to be held in Singapore in October, news of Rod Williams, Marina Manager at the Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Sydney, being recognised with a Certified Marina Operator (CMO) designation, and insight from Cruising Editor, Nancy Knudsen, into the collision between Jessica Watson and that 63,000 tonne cargo ship, the Silver Yang.

In all, a week's worth of reading and hopefully, relevant to your business. Please stay in touch with your story leads (thank you) and comments.
If you're off to Monaco Yacht Show, 'Bonne Croisière' and all the best for flying the flag for Australia.
