Austal ferry order, sea dog, SCIBS countdown, audits & Easter cheer

That segues neatly into my theme for this week: audits and audience. I won't bore you with the technical details, but we hope you'll agree, the ABA's new Web Audit Service is a marvelous thing for advertisers. The service will verify the correct placement and number of tags per page by online publishers and ensure that the web measurement system is capturing web traffic data accurately and reporting in accordance to industry agreed standards.

Cutting the story into digestible chunks, TetraMedia is pleased that our consistent claims of 'quantity AND quality' reach via its three websites will soon be verified. May 1 is the anticipated start date for the new service, so we will bring you the pure, unadorned stats as soon as we can.

Looking at our own March stats, we felt tired when we looked at numbers for March 2009, across our sites in March we ran 937 stories and we generated around 300 of those ourselves, for an audience of more than 125,000 readers.

This week it's a mixed sack of business items - from the SCIBS update, booming Tassie recreational boating and WA commercial ferry manufacturing, to what we in the industry refer to as a 'pregnant panda piece' - a family pet dog, lost overboard that swam 8kms and turned up eating wild goats on St Bees Island. Awwww.

Jeni Bone, Editor
