Craig Burlton wins SB3 Irish Nationals,
Craig Burlton, Adam Heeley and White (GBR) won the SB3 Irish Nationals held at the Royal St George YC over the weekend of the 29 to 31 August. On the final day Burlton was a model of consistency, scoring a 5, 4, 4 and after dropping a 25th finished the series with 29 points and a hefty 17 points clear of Geoff Carveth, Gilbero and Sarah Allen in second... Ice Melt Encourages Lost Arctic Ships Search

More than 160 years after they vanished into the northern ice on a doomed mission to find a North West Passage to Asia, an expedition will set off in search of the lost ships of Victorian explorer Sir John Franklin, the HMS Erebus and the HMS Terror. Final day at 29er UK National Championships
No wind meant no sailing on the final day of the 29er National Championship. The fleet waited until mid afternoon before it became very clear nothing was going to happen. Bleddyn Mon and Tom Humpreys become the 2008 National Champions, with an impressive score line they proved that they can sail and race in all conditions dominating both the Qualification series and the finals... Earthrace sunk by red tape at Torquay,
Earthrace, a 540bhp speedboat which recently broke the world record for circumnavigating the globe, was told it did not have the correct licence to carry passengers around Torbay.... [more]

Richard Stenhouse wins Musto Skiff Worlds,
The final day of the Musto Skiff Worlds and the old and new World Champion is Britain's Richard Stenhouse. Saturday once again offered the best conditions, the Maloja wind arrived in time for lunch giving ideal sailing conditions on Lake Silvaplana... [more]

Danish Open - Williams into Semi Finals

At the Danish Open, Team Pindar's Ian Williams had to beat local Peter Wibroe to assure his place in the semi's - Williams controlled the match from the start never letting Wibroe into the race and went through to face Johnie Berntsson in the semi final. iShares Cup Kiel - Team Origin close on leader

Starting well, Team Aqua took their second race win - which together with a second, third and fourth saw Alister Richardson and crew climb into second place for most of the day. But at the end of the day, it was Team Origin who moved into second overall, behind Alinghi, with Team Aqua two points behind in third... [more]

Bribón triumphant in Cartagena

Bribón took the final winning gun in Cartagena to win the Region of Murcia Trophy, their first regatta win this season. Bribón win the regatta by two points and regain second place overall on the Audi MedCup Circuit 2008, behind Terry Hutchinson and the crew of Quantum Racing (USA) who leave Murcia and head for the final regatta in Portimao having extended their overall lead to 41.2 points... Matador is new Audi MedCup leader in Cartagena

Fighting to the end of each and every race and good downwind speed see Matador lead the Region of Murcia Trophy regatta into the final day, but they have only two points on Bribon. Audi MedCup Circuit leaders Quantum Racing lie third at the this event, but already this week have increased their overall Circuit lead to a comfortable 41.2 points... [more]

Tempest Worlds to Germany at 2012 Olympic venue

The Tempest, the former Olympic twoman keelboat, raced their 43rd Tempest World Championships at the venue for the next Olympic Games in 2012 - the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Thirtythree Tempests representing eight countries battled through a nine race series. Victory went to the German team of Frank Weigelt and Christian Rusitsch... [more]

McGrane and Vidal are RS800 UK National Champions

Ben McGrane and Olivier Vidal secured three more races wins and an uncharacteristic eighth place over days four and five to secure the RS800 championship with a day to spare. The final day has dawned light, so the fleet are waiting to see if a final day's racing will be possible... [more]

2008 Cascais Dragon Gold Cup

The 2008 Cascais Dragon Gold Cup was presented yesterday in a ceremony held at the Clube Naval de Cascais. The event, will take place from 29 August to 5 September, is expecting 80 boats, representing 16 countries. The Gold Cup is considered the most important and prestigious regatta of the International Dragon Class, which returns to Cascais 10 years after it was held here in 1998... [more]

Gilbert and Willan confirmed as RS200 UK Champions,
Roger Gilbert and Jane Willan needed just one race Thursday to confirm their second title at the Gul RS200 UK Championship held at HISC. Leading from race one, Gilbert and Willan only slipped once - In the second race Ben Saxton and Kate Macgregor won the only race of the championship to allude their grasp - fittingly Saxton and Macgregor pulled through on the final day to take second overall... Skandia sticking with Team GBR to 2012 Olympics

12ft Skiff Bartercard Cup, Round 3 - Torbay

August bank holiday weekend saw a fleet of six 12ft Skiffs travel to Paignton for the third round of this year's Bartercard Cup series, which was run as part of Royal Torbay Week. John Pink and Rick Peacock are 49er Champions
As the fleet set off for their final two races of the 49er UK National CHampionship, the wind was brisk but manageable. As racing started the wind increase and gave a lively finish to an excellent three days racing. John Pink and Rick Peacock made sure they kept their lead and sat on Dylan Fletcher and Alain Sign in both races to take the 2008 Championship... [more]

Puma Ocean Racing leaves US for VOR start

The last day of the 2008 Velocitek Contender Worlds and the wind was up and the bay was whipped with whitecaps. By the time competitors hit the racecourse, the rollers were big, but the wind was diminishing steadily, so by the third and last race it was marginal trapezing. Congratulations go to Australian Marcus Hamilton who won the 2008 Velocitek Contender World Championship... [more]

Goacher and Evans retain Flying 15 European title,
Steve Goacher and Phil Evans have retained the Flying 15 European title. The event hosts have now confirmed that the final two races were cancelled and that the results posted of six races are the final results... [more]

Britain raises the 2012 Olympic flag

On Saturday the ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed the applications filed by the Italian and the Spanish Olympic Committees against two decisions of the International Jury of the International Sailing Federation related to the gold medal race of the 49er event...
