We hit cyber space this week with a packed news bulletin featuring boating happenings around the world.

But no matter how carefully researched and written stories are, spectacular boat racing pix out rate them every time. Look at the spectacular ‘bingles' from the annual Formula I action during the 5th Grand Prix of Qatar to see why.

For offshore powerboat fans, Powerboat P1 action is to compete at Bahrain this year it what will be the first appearance of the class in the Middle East. This now means the 2008 P1 World Championships will take place on three continents.

On the local scene this week we talk to the founder of one Australia's premiere marine dealerships and the leading International SeaRay dealer, Andrew Short Marine.

The Powerboat-World team spent two interesting days gaining some indepth insight into Riviera's program for the next season. Riviera is leading a strong export drive from the Australian boat building scene and we will have a series of articles about Riviera over the next few weeks.

And from a standing start only a few short years ago, Australia's Maritimo is getting its export drive into top gear. We have their latest news today. is providing the daily satellite voice report upload system for the 78 foot New Zealand bio-fuel powered trimaran Earthrace, attempting for the second time, to break the Round the World speed record. She starts from Spain in around two weeks, so stay tuned.

From the Middle East however it's a case break out the skull and cross bones! Pirates have struck a megayacht in the Gulf of Aden. There is more breaking news, we are currently publishing as well.

Eathrace attempt delayed by EU Customs

The 78 foot wave piercing powered catamaran Eathrace is preparing for its second attempt on the Round the World record. The attempt start date was scheduled for March 29th but has been delayed. A shipment of the 100% biofuel that needs to be in several of the refuelling stops around the world ready for Earthrace to arrive, has been delayed by EU customs.... [more]
