The Australian offshore Challenge from Hobart to Melbourne starting on February 21st is shaping as an important event on the 2008 boating calendar.

A month later the Kiwi biodiesel powered trimaran Earthrace will set off from Spain attempting to break the British Cable and Wireless record.

Powerboat-World plans to cover both events, with lots of pictures, interviews and news as it breaks.

The OCEAN Media Group have launched a very impressive publication, the Great Southern Route, its aim is to increase the numbers of Superyachts sailing into the Southern hemisphere.

Plenty of industry news this week with both Maritimo and Riviera are expecting a big year ahead and it seems Mustang Marine could re-emerge as a boat building force.

Changes ahead for the Australian Marine Awards, two new sponsors and some format changes as the AMIF responds to unhappiness from the industry.

Our Editor Bob Wonders will be jetting back into the Gold Coast tomorrow after a hectic US visit.

He has lots of interesting news from the burgeoning US scene, as the manufacturing industry takes advantage of the weak American dollar.

Looking towards December, Powerboat-World is one of the Media Partners of PIMEX, the Phuket International Boat Show in Thailand. Once more there will be significant presence from New Zealand, Australia and the US at this important Asian show. We will be bring you lots of news from the Asian scene then and across 2008.
