The Cape 31 Mediterranean Circuit returns to action this weekend in Bonifacio, Corsica, with 15 teams set to line up for the biggest event of the 2026 season so far.

Michel Mallaroni, Président of the Yacht Club Bonifacio said, "Bonifacio is a spectacular place known by all the sailors. The Yacht Club of Bonifacio assisted by the City and the Marina will do their best as usual to have a fantastic week of sailing, with wind, sun and fun."

Following a spectacular regatta in Puntaldia, where Hatari claimed victory on debut, the fleet now heads to one of the Mediterranean's most iconic sailing venues. Bonifacio's dramatic cliffs, narrow harbour entrance and challenging race area are expected to provide another unforgettable backdrop for the growing circuit.

The fleet continues to expand in both strength and international appeal, with Aspire joining the class for the first time this season, while renowned Mediterranean campaign G-Spot also enters the fleet in their newly acquired Cape 31.

The class is especially excited to welcome Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio and the G-Spot team to the fleet. Long recognised as one of the standout names on the Mediterranean racing scene, their arrival brings yet another layer of talent and experience into an already ultra-competitive class.

The forecast is shaping up to deliver a windy Bonifacio regatta, with strong Mistral conditions already impacting the area earlier in the week. Wednesday's planned training session was cancelled due to the breeze, although conditions are expected to moderate in time for racing to begin.

With Round 2 winners Hatari absent from the line-up this weekend, the fight for the top step of the podium feels more open than ever. Combined with a potentially windy forecast, the fleet is expecting a very different style of racing that could significantly shake up the overall standings.

After two regattas, the overall Cape 31 Mediterranean Circuit leaderboard could hardly be closer. Ahmet Eker's Eker Süzme, Michael Wilson's Shotgunn and Alessandro Rombelli's Stig are currently tied on seven points at the top of the standings, highlighting just how competitive the 2026 season has already become.

However, with Eker Süzme not competing in Bonifacio this weekend, the door is wide open for the chasing pack. Shotgunn and Stig arrive with a major opportunity to take control of the championship battle, while the return of Kalantis after missing Puntaldia adds yet another serious contender back into the mix.

Black Seal 2, Django and La Pericolosa remain firmly in contention behind the leading trio, while the return of Kalantis after missing Puntaldia adds yet another major contender back into the mix.

A hugely international fleet will line up in Bonifacio this weekend, with teams representing Italy, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Monaco, Hungary, Austria and Portugal. Returning teams including Stig, Shotgunn, Black Pearl, Squirt, Black Seal 2 and K-Force Jr will be joined by newcomers Aspire and G-Spot, adding even more depth to an already highly competitive fleet.

The fleet is also looking forward to the event's opening ceremony in the beautiful Salle Saint Jacques in Bonifacio's Haute Ville, continuing the circuit's reputation for combining world-class racing with exceptional Mediterranean hospitality ashore.

"With every event the level of competition keeps rising," said Tor Tomlinson Cheney. "Bonifacio is an incredible venue. We've been really looking forward to coming here and with the forecast looking windy, it has all the ingredients for an epic regatta. It's fantastic to see new teams continuing to join the circuit."
