ARES YACHTS has signed a contract with the renowned brokerage house Northrop & Johnson, which will represent the shipyard in the sale of SIMENA globally.

  • The renowned brokerage house will handle the sale of the shipyard's flagship
  • SIMENA is currently in the outfitting stage and is scheduled to be delivered in March 2025
  • Classically-inspired ketch rigged sailing yacht, steel-carbon composite build
  • Exteriors by Taka Yacht Design, contemporary interior by Design Unlimited
  • Effortlessly merges classical and contemporary design hallmarks
  • Features towering ketch rig, classic lines and ultimate comfort

The construction of the 62-metre sailing superyacht is well under way and according to the plan at the shipyard in Antalya with the delivery in March 2025.

"We are happy to have such a celebrated company by our side," says ARES YACHTS Chairman Kerim Kalafatoglu. "We are confident in Northrop & Johnson's ability to introduce our wonderful flagship to the market and promote her in the best possible way."

"Northrop & Johnson is delighted to be appointed by ARES for the sale of the stunning 62m ketch, SIMENA, due to delivery March 2025. ARES is firmly established as one of the leading shipyards in Turkey with an unparalleled track record of over 230 vessels and has unique experience and expertise across the commercial, military and superyacht sectors as well as solid financial strength. SIMENA represents a unique opportunity in the market to purchase an extremely high quality yacht at a highly competitive price." stated Patrick Coote, Europe Managing Director of Northrop & Johnson.

In November, ARES YACHTS' 62-metre flagship superyacht, SIMENA, entered the outfitting stage. After the completion of all outfitting, including the joinery, the shipyard will launch the boat for the rigging system installations.

"Exterior paintwork is under way, while the superstructure and hull connection are complete," enthuses ARES YACHTS' Managing Director Piraye Sahinkaya Orhun. "Mahogany planking for the superstructure and doghouse is in progress, with insulation, wiring, and piping started from the aft crew accommodation. Various installations, such as cable trays, exhaust piping, and scupper piping, are ongoing, alongside the manufacturing of stainless steel deck outfittings and furniture for crew and guest accommodations."

SIMENA's interior and exterior designs are penned by the hands of Taka Yacht Design and Design Unlimited respectively. A true-go anywhere steel-composite yacht designed to RINA Class C requirements, SIMENA will feature traditional laid teak decks and varnished Sipo Mahogany exterior joinery. Its design is inspired by a gentler age of sail and merges the classical with the modern with ease.

On board SIMENA, accommodation is offered in style and comfort for up to 12 guests and nine crew, with the owner's suite positioned in prime position forward on the main deck. Power to the vessel is provided by a sophisticated hybrid drive system, enabling the yacht to operate silently under electric power up to 6 knots. In addition, a 882 kW diesel engine can supplement her 220kW electric motors, allowing her to reach a top speed of 14,5 knots, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles when cruising at 11 knots.

In order to preserve the overall, clean visuals of her interior spaces, modern elements of her design have been carefully hidden in key spaces, such as TV lifts within the saloon and master suite. This enables onboard guests to enjoy all of the comforts of contemporary living, whilst still being transported to the 'golden era' of yachting. In terms of the materials chosen, walnut provides the basis for the interior and is complemented by tonal textured leathers and fabrics, with antiqued brass accents throughout. The yacht's showers feature a combination of patterned tiles alongside Calacatta Oro and Patagonia White marbles.
