Sail Canada announced today that its 2024 Sail Central regional championships will be held July 11-14 at the Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club (ABYC) in Toronto, ON.

The event will be hosted during ABYC's Seahorse Regatta which has been running since 2018. In 2023, it was also part of both the Ontario Sailing Grand Prix Development Series as well as the Eastern Region 29er Grand Prix Series.

Sail Canada 2024 Sail Central Championships will be part of a total of seven Sail Canada Regional and National Annual Championships in 2024. The calendar will also include Sail Canada Sail East and Sail West Regional Championships, as well as the Youth, Senior Kiteboarding, Senior ILCA 6 and ILCA 7, as well as Senior 49er and 49erFX Championships.

The notice of races as well as registration link for Sail Canada 2024 Sail Central Championships will be available in the upcoming months. Dates for all the other competitions will be communicated later.

As a regional event, Sail Canada 2024 Sail Central Championships is aimed for sailors from Ontario and Quebec, yet athletes from other provinces are welcome. Traditionally and annually held between Ontario and Quebec, Sail Canada 2024 Sail Central Championships will be hosted in Ontario for the first time in the past 10 years. In 2023, close to 150 sailors took part in the competition held at Hudson Yacht Club in Hudson, Quebec, during the Fruitbowl Regatta.

Sail Canada Regional Championships provide a chance for sailors to train and compete with high-level sailors in their region in the U15 category (Optimist class), U17 (ILCA 4, ILCA 6, Club 420 and 29er classes) and Open (ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7, Club 420, 29er and Optimist classes). In addition, this event serves as talent identification opportunities for regional and provincial sailing teams, along with training, development and mentoring opportunities for coaches, officials and volunteers.

Helly Hansen is the proud prize sponsor for the 2024 Sail Canada Championships.

Sail Canada Championships are funded - in part- by the Government of Canada.
