Entry is now live for the RYA and BUSA Women's Team Racing Championships, which will take place at Rutland Sailing Club over the weekend of 7-8 January 2023.

The RYA, BUSA and Rutland SC are looking forward to welcoming competitors from across the country for two days of 3 v 3 competition in Firefly dinghies.

The 2023 RYA Women's Team Racing National Championship, incorporating the BUSA Women's Team Racing Championship, invites entries from teams of six sailors.

Teams may represent their club, locale or sailing organisation in the RYA championship, with higher education teams also invited to compete for the BUSA title.

Online entry is now open and the deadline for teams to enter is 23:59 on Monday 19 December 2022. Entry is limited to 18 teams, with would-be competitors urged to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Local organiser Fiona Tylecote said: "Rutland Sailing Club are delighted to be hosting one of the biggest events of the year in the team racing calendar.

"We hope that both experienced and newer teams will be inspired to take part, including those with sailors who have recently started university, and are really looking forward to welcoming students alongside clubs, classes, schools and groups of friends for a fantastic, sociable weekend of competitive team racing."

Competitors will be battling it out to see if anyone can take either or both trophies. Rutland SC, whose teams have enjoyed success on the match racing and team racing circuits this year, hopes to enter two teams after successfully retaining the overall title in 2022.

Cambridge University, who likewise successfully defended their BUSA women's title in 2022, is also expected to enter this year's event. Both title holders will be aiming for a hat-trick.

Racing is scheduled to comprise a series of round robin races, followed if possible by a knockout stage. The team entry fee is £420. Late entries, if accepted, will be £470.

Rutland SC is gearing up to deliver great racing on the water and a warm welcome on shore, including a full galley service, and bunk house accommodation available on site on a first-come-first-served basis. For further information competitors are invited to contact the club or visit the accommodation portal here.
