Captain Henry Moore, owner of the Yellowfin 39 Offshore named Bobcat, recently won two North Carolina king mackerel tournaments that had been combined into a single event, taking home a grand total of $220,000.

Moore and his crew won the aggregate tournament with a 48.95-pound kingfish that they caught in the last few minutes on the second day. That fish netted the team $150,000 from the Morehead City Open event, and another $70,000 from the North Carolina Troopers Association Fishing Tournament.

"We were in 20th place with a 27-pound fish at the end of the first day," Moore said. "Then on the second day, it got really rough in the afternoon and a lot of boats headed in. We only had a 15-pound fish in the boat and knew we couldn't win, so we decided to stay late looking for one big fish. We were at a place called '30-Minute Rock,' because it takes 30 minutes to get to the dock from there. You have to be in line to weigh in by 5 pm, and at 4:22, we caught the big fish. We took off and ran 55 to 60 miles-per-hour in the five-to-six footers, and made it to the dock at 4:55. We were the last boat in line."

Captain Mike Williams came in second in the event on another 39 Yellowfin named Release, and a week later, he won a major kingfish tournament in Swansboro, North Carolina. Congratulations to both teams for representing Yellowfin so well, and keeping us in the winner's circle!
