The first half of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda's 2021 sporting events season has seen the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, the Swan Sardinia Challenge and the Grand Prix 2 event of Persico 69F Cup all run smoothly and held in complete compliance with Covid-19 prevention procedures. This part of the season ended in July with the Coppa Europa Smeralda 888.

The second half of the season will begin with the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup held from September 5th to 11th. No less than 44 maxi yachts will gather in Costa Smeralda, a fleet size that rivals that of pre-pandemic editions.

The 100' (30,5m) Comanche will be back, sailed by her new owner and two splendid J Class yachts, Topaz and Velsheda, will fight it out just like they used to in the old days of the America's Cup. The minimum LOA to be part of this fleet is 18m, but from there the fleet is varied and includes pure racers like the Maxi72s and racer/cruisers whose owners like to use the same yacht to race and to vacation in comfort. The fleet will be divided into Classes according to type of yacht.

Vela and Golf, the traditional YCCS event that sees teams compete for points both on the green at the Golf Club del Pevero and on the water aboard the Club's fleet of J/70s, will be held towards the end of the season from September 17th to 19th. Six teams have enrolled: Yacht Club de Monaco, Yacht Club Adriaco, Yacht Club Punta Ala, Marina Militare, Pevero Golf Club and, naturally, a team from the YCCS.

The final event of the Sailing Champions League will wind up the 2021 season in Porto Cervo. Held from October 7th to 10th this event will see teams from various international yacht clubs compete aboard the YCCS fleet of J/70s in brief rounds of "flights" until a winner is declared.

All of the events at the YCCS will be held in compliance with Covid-19 prevention regulations declared by Italy, the Region of Sardinia and the Federazione Italiana Vela.
