West Riding Sailing Club Early Spring Series - Day 3

by Alasdair McQuire 20 Mar 2019 01:58 PDT 17 March 2019

Sunday morning saw a bright and sunny day but what lay in-store for the intrepid sailors was a very windy and blustery day.

Three Finns, two Lasers and one Solo made it out to the start line of the first race. All the fleet crossed the start line but as the wind picked up one Finn, Laser and Solo retired. Winning the race was Tim Keighley in his Laser, Soeren Vonsild was 2nd in his Finn and Guy Cokill was 3rd in the remaining Finn.

The second race saw even larger gusts of wind and only the three sailors daring to go out again. The gusts continued to grow, sending Soeren submarining (see the pictures) before the start. In this race Soeren capsized, leaving the flying Finn of Guy and Laser of Tim to battle it out to the finish with Guy first and Tim second.
