RYA Push the Boat Out kicked off with a bang last weekend as hundreds of people got out on the water in the glorious bank holiday sunshine.

"We had our most successful Open Day and Push the Boat Out event ever" said Nigel Butler, Rear Commodore of Blackwater Sailing Club in Essex. "During an amazing day in unbroken sunshine we provided over 500 taster sails and river trips for our 295 guests, many of whom had never considered trying sailing before. Over 30 new members signed up on the day".

RYA Push the Boat Out, the month long event to get the nation sailing and windsurfing, continues this weekend with no less than 144 free or low cost sailing and windsurfing taster sessions taking place across the UK.

Jackie Bennetts, RYA Club Support Advisor said: "We're delighted to hear that so many of the early Push the Boat Out events were a success but don't panic if you missed out as there are plenty more events still to come. The conditions are looking great for this weekend and hopefully we should see a bit more breeze as well as some sunshine!" Throughout the whole Month, there are nearly 400 sailing venues across the UK opening their doors and running free or low cost Push the Boat Out 'have a go' taster sessions. With sailing being one of the most inclusive sports around, there are plenty of venues able to cater for people across the spectrum of disabilities and activities for people of all ages.
