World ARC 2017-18: Jojo's Circus © World Cruising

After departing from Rodney Bay the 6th January the first boat from the World ARC fleet, Jojo's Circus (an Outremer 5x) made an appearance just outside the marina of Santa Marta this afternoon at 1320. The family boat was greeted by sunny blue skies, light winds and temperatures of 30 degrees as they approached the marina where the yellow shirt team and marina staff helped with their lines and greeted them with a welcome pack and a bottle of champagne on behalf of nearby Coco's restaurant. The rest of the fleet will be arriving later this evening and throughout the night into the early hours of the morning.

The newly built IGY Santa Marta Marina is an excellent facility for cruising sailors and will be home for the World ARC fleet for the following week. Santa Marta is the oldest surviving city on the South American Continent and an important colonial city of Colombia. Stunning sandy beaches backed by the dramatic Sierra Nevada Mountain range and the nearby national park of Tayrona is what the participants will be looking forward to seeing

A programme of activities has been set up for the participants here in Santa Marta, Colombia. City tours and barbeques on Concha beach, inside the national park of Tayrona. There is no doubt our time here in Colombia is going to be full of excitement and a warm welcome.
