Due to strong winds and the forecast for the rest of the day by the Bureau of Meteorology, the remaining races of the 2017 Syd Corser Regatta were cancelled.

Magpie sailed by Neville Wittey, James Mayo and Ritchie Allanson from Mornington Yacht Club, Victoria, was therefore declared the winner of the 2017 Syd Corser Regatta. Second place went to Peter Chappell, Graeme Johnson & Alex Boston on AUS1382 from Royal Freshwater Bay YC and 3rd place to Bruce Ferguson, Cameron Miles & David Sampson sailing on Whisper from Royal Prince Alfred YC in Sydney.

The vast majority of the fleet will remain at the Royal Perth Yacht Club in Fremantle to no doubt get some training in over the holidays before the Etchells Australian Championship held in Fremantle from 6 - 12 January, 2018.

The Eastern State visiting Etchells were keen to point out how valuable the regatta had been in getting used to the Fremantle sailing conditions. The Etchells Swan River Fleet Etchells Australia fleet look forward to welcoming the fleet back in the new year.
