Oliver Southgate from Tiptree in Essex and fellow ilovesailing follower James Ripley have been crowned the April ilovesailing photo calendar competition winners securing themselves a spot in the first ever ilovesailing calendar, with their two amazing photographs.

Oliver sent in a cracking shot of a Musto Skiff sailing on the glistening waters of Blackwater Sailing Club, while James's image was a picture of himself sailing his Topper at the RYA South West zone champs in 2012 and really shows how much fun sailing can be.

Oli said of his win: "I can't believe I have won and I'm looking forward to receiving my duck!

"The Skiff in my picture was racing in the Fast Handicap Speakman Cup series at Blackwater Sailing Club at the end of March this year. To capture my picture I used a Panasonic DMC-G2 with a 200mm lens. For speed and ease to get fast shots of boats I use the cameras built in Ai setting as this allows me to select a boat and the camera will stay focused on that, useful when bouncing around in a rib.

"I got this shot when I was doing my volunteer patrol boat duty and got low down to get as much sky as possible, living in Essex helps with it being nice and flat!"

Picking the winners proved to be a tricky affair once again as ilovesailing coordinator Emma Slater explains: "Yet again this month we were really spoilt for choice. Picking just two winners was a pretty difficult affair, with the judging panel battling it out for their favourites to win from a final shortlist of five amazing photos."

As well as a spot on the calendar Oliver and James also clinched themselves their very own, and now much coveted, blue ilovesailing rubber duck as did caption entry winner Leila Moore for her quote "I'm an RYA member because they are helping me up the ladder to achieve my dream and become an Olympic sailor when I'm old enough."

The ilovesailing calendar competition runs from March through to August 2013, with two photo and two caption winners being picked each month to appear on the 2014 calendar as well as receiving an ilovesailing rubber duckie.

All you have to do to take part is post your favourite sailing photo(s) on to the ilovesailing Facebook page www.facebook.com/ryailovesailing or email your entry to , it's that easy.

As well as the photo entries we are also asking for text entries answering either of the two statements; 'I'm an RYA member because...' or 'I support the RYA because....', in no more than 30 words.

Four winners; two photo and two caption (depending upon number of entries), will be picked each month and the winners will be announced on the ilovesailing Facebook page and contacted via email. All winners will also receive a copy of the calendar when it is completed.

The calendars will go on sale at the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2013, with the first 50 people to purchase a copy also receiving a 2013 ilovesailing rubber duck.

As well as the new calendar competition the ilovesailing page will continue to run its ever popular weekly caption competition, giving you a chance to share your funny, clever and witty captions in a bid to win an ilovesailing duck.
