Invergordon Boating Club held their annual keelboat regatta on Saturday 28 August. The event had been postponed from the previous weekend when high winds forced a postponement.

This weekend the weather was a great improvement with winds around ten to twelve knots and the rain held off until after the end of the second race.

The first race took the fleet down the Cromarty Firth past Invergordon Port to the Newhall Bouy and then back up to a finish on the club line. At Newhall Excitabull led after working their way through the fleet after a poor start. Racing was close between the other boats and eventually the Impalas, Kumara and Unravelled pulled away from the Sonatas, Rhythm and Blue Rhapsody and Edwen Santes. Excitabull and the Impalas were unable to save their time on Rhapsody who was the winner on handicap followed by Kumara and Rhythm and Blue.

The second race was sailed in the waters West of the port and once again the racing was excellent. The Impalas lead on the water but were unable to gain enough time on Rhapsody.Kumara and Edwen Santes filled the minor places.

Overall Results:

1st Rhapsody, James Burns (Channonry Sailing Club)
2nd Kumara, George Shields (Invergordon Boating Club)
3rd Edwen Santes, Dave Bilsland (Invergordon Boating Club)
