Pittwater Farr 40 Regatta - Day 2

by Sam Crichton 25 Oct 2008 07:53 PDT 24-26 October 2008

Three way tie after day two of Pittwater F40 regatta

Day two of the Pittwater Farr 40 Regatta and after six races there is a three way tie for first place between Guido Belgiorno Nettis’s Transfusion, Lang Walker’s Kokomo and Lisa and Martin Hill’s Estate Master. Nine Farr 40s have lined up for the second event in the Australian Farr 40 2008-09 Circuit.

After a very tough first day of racing on Pittwater when all nine tacticians had to work very hard to hold their position around the course the fleet enjoyed a day of racing on a course off Sydney’s Palm Beach in a building Nor’East breeze that reached 14 knots.

Kokomo’s 2nd, 1st and 4th today gave them Boat of the Day on a day when the fleet managed to have three general recalls. “It was a beautiful day today postcard sailing. Denis (Thompson) did a great job on the water and we are looking forward to tomorrow with the points so close”, said Walker dockside.

Transfusion took the two remaining guns for the day and are currently leading the event on a count back. “ It was really tight one design racing today as the results show”, commented Belgiorno Nettis.

Close on the heels of the three lead boats are Brett Neill's White Cloud and Marcus Blackmore’s Hooligan with eight points separating the top five boats and as all results count racing on the final day will prove to be interesting with it still a open competition for the winners spot.

Racing wraps up tomorrow with the forecast for North West winds of 10 to 15 knots at first, tending North /Nor’East and increasing to 15 to 20 knots.
