Yava Trophy - Team Gilmour prepares for 20th edition

by Team Gilmour on 7 Aug 2014
Team Gilmour ready for the Yava Trophy opening ceremony parade with our beautiful hostess Sophie Team Gilmour
Following a disappointing 11th place in the Sopot Match Race in Poland, the boys have regrouped and refocused for our next event here in Yekaterinburg in Russia. Sopot was a beautiful place and a very well-run event, we just struggled to build any momentum and unfortunately bowed out after the round robin.

We arrived in Yekaterinburg tired early this morning after a long time traveling, we checked straight into the hotel for a quick power nap. After some recovery time we ventured down to the yacht club to prepare for out training session.

We are sailing on a small lake about a 15 minute drive from the CBD. We had a productive training session on the interesting but simple 'Ricochet 747' yachts albeit involving finding the shallow parts of the lake (Three times) and coming close to some power lines which are hanging across the lake.

The winds are forecast to be light and variable but we are excited to be back on the water and racing again.

The teams competing are:

Steffan Lindberg (FIN)
David Gilmour (AUS)
Marek Stanczyk (POL)
Sergey Musikhin (RUS)
Sam Gilmour (AUS)
Mahesh Ramchandran (IND)
Georgy Shayduko (RUS)
Eugeniy Neugodnikov (RUS)
Neville Wittey (AUS) 'also appears to be a local hero here'
Maxim Taranov (RUS)
