Volvo Ocean Race- Images from Auckland - The run down the Waitemata

Leg 5 of the Volvo Ocean Race got underway from Auckland on Sunday afternoon. Sail-World's Richard Gladwell was on the water and followed the six strong fleet from the start to when the fleet exited the Waitemata and headed from Cape Horn.

Here is how he saw the day, Team Sanya rounded the top mark first and headed back down the Harbour pushed by a strong easterly breeze and favourable tide. Behind her the other five boats jockeyed for position. The rounding mark was to the east of the Harbour Bridges and off the Royal New Zealand yacht Squadron. The spectator fleet was contained in a pen on the northern side of the harbour.
