World Match Racing Tour announces departure of CEO Jim O'Toole

The Alpari World Match Racing Tour 2012 consists of nine races which starts in Langenargen with Match Race Germany in May and concludes with the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia in December.

The Alpari World Match Racing Tour today announces that Chief Executive Officer Jim O’Toole will not be renewing his fixed term contract with the Tour and after discussions with the Board of Directors it has been agreed that he will part company with the Tour with immediate effect.

O'Toole comments: 'With the recent announcement of Alpari as the Tour title sponsor and the conclusion of an agreement with the new venue in Chicago, the Alpari World Match Racing Tour is in an enviable commercial position in the world of sailing and I would like to wish the series and all its stakeholders every success moving forward.'

O’Toole will explore other senior management roles within the sports marketing industry. The Alpari World Match Racing Tour would like to thank Jim and wish him good luck in his future World Match Racing Tour website

The Semi Final of Match Race France took place today in Marseille and young New Zealander William Tiller won the all-Kiwi battle against compatriot Laurie Jury to book his place in the Final, whilst reigning Tour Champion Ian Williams also progressed.

Argo Group Gold Cup, being held in Hamilton, Bermuda, from 1st to October 7th 2012, is the penultimate event in the Alpari World Match Racing Tour. Bermuda's own Jessie Kirkland has always been a big fan of the Argo Group Gold Cup so when the opportunity to compete in this year’s Tour event presented itself, naturally the Olympic sailor grasped it with both hands.

At Match Race France, after his progression through Qualifying went down to the wire, Ian Williams returned to form. At Match Race France, after his progression through Qualifying went down to the wire, Ian Williams returned to form in his Quarter Final today as the challenge ended for home favourites Damien Iehl and Pierre-Antoine Morvan of France. At Match Race France, the race for the 2012 Alpari World Match Racing Tour title has been reignited. At Match Race France, following a disappointing exit for Bjorn Hansen at the Qualifying stage, the race for the 2012 Alpari World Match Racing Tour title has been reignited. Hansen (SWE) Mekonomen Sailing Team currently leads the overall standings but was unable to maintain his good form in Marseille, failing to reach the knockout stages after finishing Qualifying Session Two on 4-7.
