Fuerteventura will be once again the epicentre of the boarders universe during the 29th Windsurfing and Kiteboarding World Cup. The island, situated in the Canaries, has got the wind the windsurfers and kiteboarders need - guaranteed! White sandy beaches, turquoise waters and summer-like temperatures are a welcome bonus for the athletes and spectators alike.

The windsurfing and kiteboarding programme includes slalom and freestyle disciplines. Spectacular, very fast manoeuvres and extreme jumps characterize the freestyle discipline while in the slalom discipline a course staked-out with buoys has to be navigated at top speed.

René Egli, initiator and organizer of the World Cup says: '2014 is the 29th consecutive time that I am organizing the Fuerteventura Windsurfing and Kiteboarding World Cup together with my team. We are proud of what we achieved – having started in 1986 with a windsurf world record in speed and being pioneers in organizing kiteboarding events since 2001. Nowadays our event, which counts in all disciplines with the Grand Slam status, has a very high reputation amongst the competitors who are keen on coming back every year.

There is also plenty to keep body and soul together and a wide-ranging programme of related events. Spectators can chill on the beach with drinks, food and music in a 1,000 m² lounge area whilst watching the ongoing competitions. In the evenings, thousands of tourists and locals will mingle at the legendary World Cup parties in the 2,000 m² party marquee.

The World Cup on Fuerteventura is organized and sponsored by René Egli, also sponsored by the Canarian and Fuerteventura´s government and the local town hall of Pájara. Fuerteventura has a special relationship with the wind. The island is a pioneer in the field of wind energy. As long ago as 1996, there were 45 wind turbines with a combined output of more than 10 MW in Pájara.
