Whang Youn Dai Acheivement Award finalists named

Paralympics London 2012 - The finalists for the Whang Youn Dai Acheivement Award have been revealed today, Thursday, 6th September. The award is for someone who is fair, honest and is uncompromising in his or her values and prioritizes the promotion of the Paralympic Movement above personal recognition.

The Paralympic Games not only recognise the performance of the athletes but are also committed to acknowledge and celebrate exceptional Paralympic athletes who exemplify incomparable spirit for the sports and the human spirit.

Six finalists (three male and three female) were selected in the first round of selection process by the Whang Youn Dai foundation, and they are as follows:

Male: Sherif Khalifa Osman (Egypt), Michael McKillop (Ireland), and Oscar Pistorius (South Africa)
Female: Deanna Coates (Great Britain), Teresa Perales (Spain), and Mary Zakayo (Kenya)

These six finalists will each receive a tablet provided by ACER.  The resentation will be held at the ACER pavilion on Friday (7th September).

From these six finalists, two winners (a male and female) will be selected as recipients of the Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award and will each receive a gold medal.

Presentation of the award will be at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games on Sunday (9 September).
