Victorian Tillet Team Selection

by Troy Croft on 4 Dec 2012
Tillets selection Troy Croft
The last weekend in November saw 38 International Cadets converge on the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria for two days of racing. The aim of the weekend, being to determine the team representing Victoria at the upcoming International Cadet National Titles being held at Sandy Bay Sailing Club in Hobart, over the Christmas New Year period.

Saturdays racing kicked off in light and shifting conditions. This along with a good flow of current thanks to the Yarra created some testing conditions for the skippers and crews. There were a lot of comments back on the beach about how challenging the conditions were.

Over night Saturday saw the predicted change come through. This brought more settled sailing conditions, which would have made everyone more relaxed about the days racing. With four races scheduled it was still going to be a testing day even with the more stable conditions.

The top end of Port Phillip Bay in a south west breeze ensures a solid sea built up and today was no exception. The crews that worked the shifts, swell and current to their advantage were rewarded with big gains.

Overall a great weekends racing was had by all and we would like to wish the team and all those travelling to Hobart for Christmas good luck.
