Proud New Zealander Keith Munro will have to re stow his trophy cabinet on the comfortable Bavaria cruiser racer Time Lord after he won the 2008 Meridien Marinas Airlie Beach Race Week Cruising (Non-spinnaker) championship on Pioneer Bay today.
Munro and his composite crew of New Zealand and Airlie Beach sailing mates steered Time Lord into a two point win over the Martin Cross skippered Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club Jeanneau Sun Odyssey Joie De Vie while Sandringham Yacht Club skipper John Sloan steered the McIntosh 47 Delphian into third another 4 points of the pace.
All three crews enjoyed the friendly fellowship which existed in the class particularly the post race dockside hospitality.
'This regatta has a great atmosphere there is good racing amongst a group of people who like us come a long way each year simply to mix our sailing with a lot of fun'.
'We will be back for some more punishment next year' skipper Keith Munro said.
Time Lord will fly her battle flag in the 2008 Rolex Sydney Hobart race then cruise back to Airlie Beach to defend her trophy on the Whitsunday Sailing Club courses.
