The Gathering Cruise in Ireland July 2013

by Nancy Knudsen on 22 Apr 2013
The Gathering - Ireland in the summer SW
If you are anywhere within a short sail of Ireland (or even if you have to fly there), there's a gathering for sailors you won't want to miss. In fact, that's the name - The Gathering Cruise in July 2013. It is a cruise consisting of sailors from around the world, gathering together for fun, mutual support, and some grand cruising between Dublin and Kerry. Around 100 yachts are expected to join.

You don't even need your own yacht to join this cruise. There are charter yachts entering the rally, so if you'd like to go contact the organisers to join such a yacht. To find out how, http://www.thegatheringcruise.ie/GetonBoard/CharterorCrew.aspx!click_here.

The rally is run by the Cruising Association of Ireland, and celebrations start in Dun Laoghaire, Wednesday 17th July 2013. However, as with all such rallies, you can join the cruise at any Gateway Port and rally with the fleet to beautiful Kinsale for a party of artisan foods and Irish craic on Wednesday 24th July.

Then, with introductions completed, smaller groups of boats will sail off independently to explore the unspoilt Cork and Kerry coastline, choosing which welcome ports to set anchor.

The Farewell 'Gathering' will be in Dingle, Thursday 1st August 2013, and what a way to spend a summer sailing.

There's lots of flexibility too - you can choose part or all of this cruise or go for a complete circumnavigation of Ireland itself.

For all further information, go to the Rally http://www.thegatheringcruise.ie!website.
