2015 -16 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race - Race 12, the ‘LegenDerry Finale’ to Derry-Londonderry, Northern Ireland, has officially started following the fleet’s departure from New York this morning.
Following a Ceremony and Parade of Sail in front of the New York skyline and Statue of Liberty, the 12 teams started Race 12 of the series, the ‘LegenDerry Finale’ to Derry-Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
The teams performed a Le Mans start at Ambrose Lighthouse at 1944 local time (2344 UTC) on the first of three races making up the final leg, the ‘Atlantic Homecoming’ leg.
Lead Skipper Matt Mitchell, ClipperTelemed+ led the start.
