TeamO Marine Safety Products launches Back Pull Harness/Jifejacket

by TeamO Marine Safety Products on 10 Oct 2012
TeamO; old and new TeamO Marine Safety Products
TeamO Marine Safety Products is delighted to be able to announce that the launch of its new, patent pending, Back Pull harness and lifejacket design at the recent Southampton Boat Show was a total success. The reaction from the groups who are most closely involved with the safety aspects of sailing has been very good with the basic premise of the new design being both obvious to all and the execution of the harness and lifejacket being well regarded.

One delivery skipper with hundreds of thousands of sea miles to his name who runs courses from his sailing centre ordered one for himself, sent his best friends over to order them for themselves and wants to make the TeamO design his standard teaching model going forward.

The reaction from the public was also fantastic with many buyers coming to the TeamO stand in the morning to try the product and then coming back to order at the end of the day saying that the TeamO was by far the most comfortable harness they had tried on, as well as being the one they felt most able to trust in a worst case scenario. The ease of recovering a man overboard – far easier than on traditional harnesses thanks to the integrated lifting strop - was also a key element of the design for a lot of women who were buying with their husbands.

A major UK magazine was on the stand several times during the week and within 48 hours of the show closing had taken samples from the TeamO stand for on the water testing. Those results are being published next month but the inside scoop is that the test went very well with the mannequin 'victim' being towed face up on every angle of sailing and being easily recovered from overboard on the A frame lifting strop.

TeamO took retail pre-orders at the show which were well in excess of plan, despite the first delivery not being due until the end of 2012, and several retailers are in discussions about stocking the design. Distribution enquiries from as far afield as the USA, Australia and Japan were also fielded during the show and at least one other manufacturer has enquired about a license to produce the design on their new 2014 range.
