Southport YC’s Hollywell Sailing Squadron upgrades near completion

After a number of months of planning, Southport Yacht Club’s new amenities and kitchen upgrade is nearing completion. The new amenities block include both male and female toilets and showers, and three new disabled toilets to assist with the Gold Coast Sailability program which is run out of the Hollywell Sailing Squadron.

Sailability applied for a grant from the Queensland Government, Sport and Recreation department to upgrade the amenities at Hollywell. The grant was approved and along with additional contributions from both Southport Yacht Club and Sailability the upgrade was underway.

The new Kitchen facility sees the launch of the new 'Sails Cafe' with waterfront views of the Gold Coast Broadwater.

Southport Yacht Club’s new Hollywell Amenities have already come in very useful with numerous participants in the Sailability program and the kids youth sailing.

Construction of the New Facilities have taken approximately 17 weeks to complete as construction commenced in June 2012.

Southport Yacht Club invite all Members, Guests and Visitors to join in as MP Verity Barton and Olympic Gold Medallist Mathew Belcher officially opens of the facilities at the Hollywell Sailing Squadron, 1 Marina Crescent on Sunday 14th October from 1330hrs however 'Sails Cafe' is open from 0700hrs for breakfast followed by Lunch at 1200hrs with Live Entertainment from 2:30pm by Gold Coast Duo 'The Southport Yacht Club website
