Skandia Sail for Gold - Enter now for early entry discount

Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta, being held from 4th to 9th June 2012, is the penultimate event of the 2012 ISAF Sailing World Cup. If you are thinking of competing at this year’s regatta then get your entry in before 30th April to benefit from the early entry discount.

The multi Olympic class event will be the last regatta to be held at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy ahead of this summer’s Olympic Games.

The ‘early entry discount’ closes on Monday 30th April, which is also the deadline for all Women’s Match Racing team entries this year. Final entry date is Monday 21st May.

Entries are open to all 10 Olympic classes and three Paralympic.

'We would urge anyone wanting to participate in this year’s Skandia Sail for Gold to take advantage of the early entry discount. Preparations are well underway and are looking forward to another World Class event this year.' Tim Hall, RYA Competitions Manager.

Sail for Gold will once again reach a global audience through real-time race tracking, live commentary and the interactive event blog.

Kiel Week - Kiteboarding makes it's Sailing World Cup debut
Kiel Week - Kiteboarding made it's first appearance at an ISAF major event yesterday. Kieler-Woche hosted two Kiteboarding demonstrations in Kiel, Germany yesterday, Wednesday 20th June 2012. After Kiteboarding has been chosen as an event for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro at the ISAF mid-year meeting in Stresa, Italy, earlier this year, the new sailing discipline made it's first appearance during this final event of the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Kiel.

The Kiel Week medal race was once again the crowning highlight at the close of racing for the Olympic classes and again The Kiel Week medal race was once again the crowning highlight at the close of racing for the Olympic classes and again the final of the Lasers, with a live broadcast in front of the Audi Lounge, attracted the audience. Philipp Buhl (Sonthofen) took revenge for the previous year, finishing first in the last race and thus managed to slip in front of Simon Grotelueschen (Kiel) overall.

ISAF Sailing World Cup Standings announced
After the conclusion of Kieler-Woche, an ISAF Sailing World Cup Regatta, the World Cup Standings have been decided Kieler-Woche, the final ISAF Sailing World Cup Regatta 2011-12, was held in Germany at the Kieler Yacht Club. After the conclusion of the regatta in Kiel today the World Cup Standings have been decided. The Finn title was up for grabs in Kiel with Caleb Paine (USA) and Brendan Casey (AUS) fighting it out to claim the honours.

On the penultimate day of Kiel Week, a touch of summer with a thermal sea breeze was supposed to dominate the sailing On the penultimate day of Kiel Week, a touch of summer with a thermal sea breeze was supposed to dominate the sailing conditions in Kiel, but not much wind kicked in. Race director Jobst Richter had already announced an early start the previous day to be able to use each opportunity for some wind. But most participants got up early just to rest again and wait.

After winning five out of the seven opening series races, he wrapped up his most dominant week ever with a medal race win to take the victory by a sizeable 30 points.
