Shining Sea disqualified from Sydney 38 race
by Peter Campbell on 1 Dec 2003
A protest hearing at Middle Harbour Yacht Club last night disqualified the Sydney 38, Shining Sea, skippered by Stephen Kulmar, from the final race of the club’s Short Ocean Racing Championship, sailed over the weekend.
The protest panel found Shining Sea at fault in an incident with the yacht The Bigger Picture (Williment/Hooper) under RRS 13, which covers tacking in another boat’s water.
As a result, Shining Sea dropped from fourth overall to ninth in the JPMorgan Regatta final pointscore and from second overall to fourth in the Sydney 38 NSW championship which ended with this regatta.
