Sevenstar Round Britain-Ireland Race Musandam-Oman Sail- new record

Sultanate of Oman’s flagship 70ft trimaran, Musandam-Oman Sail at the start of the Round Britain and Ireland Race © Lloyd Images
Sidney Gavignet and the crew of Musandam-Oman Sail, a MOD70 Trimaran crossed the finish line of the 2014 Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race off the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes at 12.42.36 BST on Thursday 14th August 2014 with an elapsed time of 3 days, 03 hours, 32 minutes, 36 seconds.

This breaks the previous World Record for a multihull held by Banque Populaire 5 in 2011, by 16 minutes, 38 seconds and is subject to ratification by the World Speed Sailing Record Council.

Women candidates polled the highest in the election for Vice-President at the just concluded World Sailing General Assem Women candidates polled the highest in the election for Vice-President at the just concluded World Sailing General Assembly. There were fifteen candidates for seven positions on the former Executive Committee now the Board of World Sailing. In the full voting results just released by World Sailing, female candidates took three of the top four positions.

World Sailing - GAC Pindar sign long term partnership with world body
GAC Pindar have confirmed that they have entered in to partnership with World Sailing. GAC Pindar have signed a memorandum of understanding for a long-term partnership with the international governing body and the anticipated relationship will see GAC Pindar become an Official Partner of World Sailing. The relationship will last until 31 December 2020, with GAC Pindar granted exclusivity in the marine logistics and shipping sector.
