Plenty of sun, heat and wind proved Semana Internacional del Yachting gave the 600 competitors at Club Nautico Mar del Plata the ideal final day in Argentina. A northerly breeze ranging from 14-18 knots allowed all of the fleets to complete racing on the final day as the victors were decided across the classes on show.
In the large optimist helmsmen fleet, there were no major surprises as Chase Cooper of Bermuda beat Peru's Francesca Foronda, the final step on the podium was filled by Fausto sanpedrino Peralta.
Among the optimist beginners Augustine Perez Aguirre to secured first place by one point over John Paul Grosso.
In the categories Laser Standard, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 there was a significant rise in the number of participants therefore competition was tougher than in previous years. The eventual honours went to Julio Alsogaray, the Cordovan Augustine Vidal and Guido Pozzi Alcon respectively.
In the 29er class Nacho Varisco and Klaus Lange blew the field apart and had secured the top spot before the last race. There was also a convincing win for Fermín Romero and Augustine Jacobs in the 420.
Cecilia Rosario Carranza and Esteban Blando confirmed their auspicious debut the F18 multihull as they begin to prepare for a Rio 2016 Olympic campaign in the mixed multihull.
Two classes where nothing was definite and racing was wide open was the Snipe and Kiteboarding. Local Snipe duo composed of the Grimaldi Juani and Natalia Jenkins prevailed over the rest of the fleet whilst in kiteboarding there was a fight between Manuel Abeleyra, and Alejandro Cristobal Saubidet Baldoví, leaving the podium in that order.
