The 2012 SAISA Men's Singlehanded event took place in Charleston from the 22nd-23rd September. On the opening day, racing was postponed until the sea breeze started to show signs of life. The sailors had a 1:00pm harbor start and the first race of the day began at 1:45pm.
All races were sailed in Charleston Harbor on Crab Bank in a building 8- 12 knot southerly. All courses were W4's with offsets and gate. Two protested were filled resulting in one DSQ and three redresses for breakdown were granted. Four more races are scheduled for tomorrow to compete the 12 boat rotation.
On Sunday, September 23rd, four races were sailed to complete the 12 boat rotation. The wind was from the NNE at 3-5 knots. We sailed the same course in the same area and had a strong flood tide pushing right to left across the race course. We had no breakdowns or protests.
Congratulations to Ian Heausler '13 Florida, Chris Stocke '15 South Florida, and Juan Maegli '13 Charleston for qualifying for the ICSA Men's Single-handed
