Multi world champion, Andrea Bonezzi, leads after the opening race of the Contender World Championship being held at the Fremantle Sailing Club. Second place went to Marcus Hamilton of Australia with another Australian, Matt Hosie in third.

Best placed Brits in the 62 boat fleet were Ben Holden in seventh place and Tim Holden in tenth.

Five boats did not finish and 17 did not compete.
