NZL chasing Australia’s Objective team - Red Bull Youth America’s Cup Chuck Lantz http://www.ChuckLantz.com
Red Bull Youth America’s Cup on San Francisco Bay. Australians back in the hunt at last.

NZL Sailing Team with Emirates Team New Zealand and Objective Australia, placed 1-2 in the day’s two races.

The all star Aussie crew, led by skipper Jason Waterhouse showed what could have been and had a good day at the office.

The team has been plagued by problems with faulty gennaker halyards in each of the first three races, they have jury protests outstanding about the supplied equipment.

Today their sail stayed hoisted and allowed them to apply some heat to Peter Burling’s leading New Zealand crew.

The Aussies passed the Kiwis at one mark rounding, but Burling’s crew was too fast today and won both races.

In the overall standings, however, it’s New Zealand holding 1-2 with NZL Sailing Team leading Full Metal Jacket by 11 points, which is tied with the American Youth Sailing Force.

Objective Australia showed today they would have been a force in this event, but they will need more favourable jury treatment after the repeated supplied equipment failures for them to have any impact in this event.
