Realstone Sailing takes on new challenges RB/Realteam
Realstone Sailing is lying second overall in the provisional Vulcain Trophy ranking, after posting a convincing fourth place at the Bol d’Or Mirabaud. This week, the professional sailing team is taking on two strong teams in Team Tilt and l’hydroptere.ch for a weeklong training session.

With the last of the Lake Geneva Classics behind them, the Realstone Sailing team is about to begin an intensive summer campaign.

'We are quite pleased with our fourth place at the Bol d’Or,' said Jerome Clerc. 'It is a tough race and considering how easy it is to make big losses, I would say that we are actually pretty happy with the way it turned out. We tried to avoid making any extreme calls and the conservative approach paid off. It was an incredibly close race from start to finish that ended with six Decision 35s crossing the line within 100metres of each another!'

Realteam was scheduled to race the Extreme 40 Sailing Series in Istanbul next weekend, but the event has been delayed due to political unrest in the country.

Not wanting to miss out on valuable sailing time, Jerome Clerc and his crew have planned a training session with Team Tilt from Wednesday to Saturday and will also line up with the foiling catamaran l’hydroptere.ch on Thursday.

'Our goal with Team Tilt is to train in Extreme 40 configuration, so start procedures and short course racing,' explained Jerome Clerc. 'For our day with l’hydroptere.ch we have knowledge exchange planned.'

With this in mind the two multihulls will compare performance and the two crews will swap boats. 'I am very interested in learning how a foiling boat behaves and to understand more about the technical side,' said Clerc. 'From their point of view, they will learn about how we operate and work. I think both parties will benefit from the exchange.'
