RYA Push the Boat Out set for May

RYA Push the Boat Out (PTBO) is set to take place over the weekend of 18-19 May and the RYA is encouraging clubs and centres across the country to open their doors to their local community and invite them to ‘have a go’ at sailing and windsurfing.

Clubs and centres can now register their PTBO events including open days and taster sessions here.

From regular sailors to newcomers or for a family day out, there are plenty of ways for clubs and centres to get everybody involved.

'If your club is holding an event for the public on RYA Push the Boat Out weekend, the RYA will provide promotional materials including postcards, badges and pens, coasters and key rings. Resources will also be available on the RYA website including advice on how to run an open day, promote your event and downloadable PTBO posters,' explains RYA Volunteer Development Officer Jackie Bennetts who is coordinating the event.

RYA Push the Boat Out is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your club and facilities whist being a part of a national celebration of our sport.

'2012 saw thousands of people take to the water to celebrate the London 2012 Games and a huge part of that can be attributed to those who supported our Sail for Gold programme. It’s critical now that we continue to embrace the interest and enthusiasm for the sport and ensure that we do everything we can to get more people to go sailing. We are hoping to see as many clubs as possible registering and taking part in RYA Push the Boat Out' commented RYA Sport Development Manager Jon White.

PTBO was officially launched by gold medallist Helena Lucas at the RYA Dinghy Show in March. For more information about the event and to find out how you can get involved visit www.rya.org.uk/ptbo.
