RCIYC Spring Regatta to start April 5

by Bill Harris on 8 Mar 2014
Sport catamaran start, Spring Regatta 2013 RCIYC
The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club’s annual Spring Regatta, sponsored this year by London Eye Hospital, is scheduled for the weekend of 5th and 6th April. Taking place in St Aubin’s Bay and off the south coast of Jersey, the Regatta promises two days of competitive racing for sportsboat, cruiser/racer, dayboat, dinghy and sport-catamaran classes.

Ashore, competitors can look forward to a very warm welcome in the RCIYC clubhouse where the Regatta party takes place on the Saturday evening with a reception and prizegiving to close the event on the Sunday.

Cruisers with a valid Spinlock IRC rating will be racing in the IRC classes. Occasional racers without a current rating might wish to join them and are encouraged to take up the option of a Limited Validity TCC, issued by the RORC Rating Office at a reduced cost (see www.rorcrating.com/lv-tcc). Otherwise, cruisers without a rating will race under the Jersey clubs’ Island Handicap System.

The Regatta is open to all eligible boats, providing a great opportunity for visitors to join in the fun of the Regatta. Club Commodore Sandra Carroll said that the RCIYC is delighted to welcome London Eye Hospital as the new sponsor of the Club’s annual regatta and that everyone was looking forward to this major highlight in the Island’s busy sailing programme.

The Notice of Race, including the entry form, is available from the Club and on its website. The closing date for entries is Tuesday 1st April.

Further information is available from the RCIYC, tel 00 44 (0)1534745783 or e-mail rciyc@localdial.com.
