Professional Windsurfers Association announce 2014 World Tour dates

The Professional Windsurfers Association announce the 2014 season provisional World Tour dates. 2013 was a complicated year and we definitely had our share of bad luck, with a lack of wind in some of our windiest destinations and an unexpected lack of budget in others! As we move into 2014 though, we can leave the difficulties of 2013 behind us and look ahead to what appears to be an exciting new year. The dramatic conclusion and positive vibe created by the return of the Aloha Classic offset many of the issues we had to overcome in 2013 and we welcome a well-deserved new World Champion in the form of Marcilio Browne to a very distinguished club, not only as a Wave Champ, but also as one of the few people who has a world title in more than one discipline.

You will see from the calendar that 2014 does indeed look like a busy year! At present we have seven events on the schedule that were not held last year and some exciting new destinations. Poland and La Torche represent important steps into markets that have strong ties to windsurfing but have not had PWA events in recent years and Margarita and Bonaire will take us to two of the spiritual homes of Freestyle. Turkmenistan promises to chart new territory in the Caspian Sea and is just one of many events already confirmed by contract. The only event from 2013 not listed for 2014 at this time is the Netherlands event which we are still hopeful may be added later.

The Maui and Chile events are both included on the calendar again and, although there is still a lot of work to do on both, we are reasonably hopeful of a positive outcome for each.
