Paralympics London 2012 - Ups and downs for the Canadians on day 2

On day two of the 2012 Paralympic Sailing Competition, there were ups and downs for the Canadian team. The wind in Weymouth was coming from 250-260 (avg) on the compass and ranged between 10- 14 kts on the courses.

Paul Tingley had an excellent first race in the 2.4 rounding the first mark in sixth then working through the fleet to finish second, in a very close race with NED, only a few feet of separation at the finish line. The second race was a tough one for Paul he came off the start but was not able to get enough clear air to get up to full speed, he finished 10th in race 4.

SKUD team John McRoberts and Stacie Louttit had a solid 3 – 4 on the day. They had hoped to break out of the 3-4 mould they seem to be in but timid starts have proved costly within this tight fleet.

Bruce Millar, Logan Campbell and Scott Lutes had a 11-8 in the Sonar class today. The team made a great comeback in the last race holding down 13 place for much of the race but managed to move up to eighth at the finish with some excellent downwind work.

This Paralympic regatta still has more than half of the races remaining and several days of light variable winds. The CAN team are upbeat and looking forward to the coming races. Team Leader Brian Todd says it so well 'It is where you finish at the end of the event that Canadian Sailing Team website
