PHS winners - Boag's Sailing South Race Week

by Peter Campbell on 3 Jan 2007
Silver Mist and Natelle II confirmed as PHS winners in first race of Boag’s Sailing South Race Week.

The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania has confirmed local yachts Silver Mist and Natelle II as winners of the opening PHS division races in the Boag’s Sailing South Race Week sailed in conjunction with the traditional King of the Derwent Race in Hobart yesterday.

Silver Mist, a Farr 37 skippered by Andrew Sutherland, PHS Division 1 on corrected time from Moonshine (Bruce Palmer) and Trecento (David Bean).

In PHS Division 2, the King of the Derwent results differed to the Sailing South results, with race one of Sailing South for this division going to the veteran yacht Natelle II, skippered by Phil Jackman.

A close runner-up was Atilla, skippered by John Hunn, with a five second margin from Tarremah (Larry Duncan).

The IRC division of the opening race of Sailing South went to the Sydney yacht Quantum Racing, skippered by Ray Roberts, from the Melbourne boat Flirt (Chris Dare) and the Hobart boat Wires (Stephen Boyes).

Two back-to-back races windward/leeward races will be sailed for Sailing South Race Week today with the outlook for perfect sailing conditions on a warm Hobart day.

The racing will be off Blackman’s Bay, further down the Derwent, giving over the main harbour area for dinghies contesting Australian championships in Lasers, B-14s and International Cadets.
